Little Miss Tomball Pageant

JoLee was in the Little Miss Tomball Pageant and won 2nd runner up overall. She was so excited. I am waiting for pictures that were taken at the pagent to be uploaded so I will post them as soon as possible. I wasn't able to take pictures because I was running around and helping her change outfits. She was too CUTE!.

Cody

Well another football season has come to an end, with not so great results. We ended up 2-8 overall. So depressing. The coaches put in an incredible amount of work and end up disgusted with the way things turn out. The kids and I went out of town last weekend after the last game, a terrible game BTW, so Cody was able to rest, hide out, and crash after working so hard for the last four months. At least I have some great pictures from this season, (even though he looks REALLY serious and unhappy in them.) The beauty of football is, there is always next season. I'm very proud of Cody, he is truly a wonderful father and husband. The kids were so excited yesterday because he was home in the daylight, he was able to play with them on their bikes and see them in the afternoon instead of right before (or after) their bed time. Case said daddy's home?? I said yes, he said...why??? :) Of course he says why?? to everything right now. It's amazing how much Cody misses, I don't think people realize how much these guys (and their families) sacrifice for their players. It's a good thing he loves it.

Halloween

The kids were so cute on Halloween, Dash Incredible, Pink Lady and Elvis. We had a great time in our new neighborhood. This was the first year that we didn't go to another neighborhood to trick or treat. It was so nice outside, the neighbors were so nice to all the kids. We loved it!

JoLee's First Dance Recital

Saturday was JoLee's first dance recital. THANKFULLY it was no where near the extravaganzas that my dance recitals used to be. It was only two classes and each dance was about 2 minutes long and she did so well! She knew the steps and smiled so pretty. It was fun. Cody was even able to get off work in time to make it. He brought her some very pretty red roses, that she is so proud of. Case slept through most of it and Stoney did pretty well at sitting quietly while 4 and 5 year olds danced around in princess costumes. We were so proud of her.

She is getting her crown on. That is her teacher, Miss Ruth.

This was her favorite part!

Pretty curtsy!

Pretty pointed toes!

So proud of her roses...

...and her crown!!

My flowers

I have some pretty Azaleas blooming in the front of the house. They are just so sweet. It is funny they are only blooming on the back side of the bushes, closest to the house. JoLee just loves them, mainly because they are purple I think. It is so fun to have my own flowers in my own yard. I hope they fill with blooms soon.

My beautiful kids!

Aren't they gorgeous?!! I just had to share.

Jagger new pics

FINALLY! I can put up some pics of the new dog. Or as Case calls him.... PPPPUUUUPPPPYYYY!. He runs around yelling that all the time. Puppy, come here or Puppy, off or Puppy, want some? This dog is super fast, I can't catch him if he gets out. He'll come to Stoney that is the only way we can get him back in the house. Thanks Aunt Jeri for the Red Raider shirt he is sporting in these pics.

Summer Sea World Trip

It's catch up time! Here are some pics from our Summer trip to Sea World. We did the dine with Shamu lunch and it was really cool! We were so close to the whales. those things are huge! The kids loved it! Cody loved the all you can eat buffet that went along with it.

Stoney rode his first big time roller coaster... with me....twice! It was so much fun. He is an adrenaline junkie... I wonder where he gets it?

Caser

So here's my little guy, Caser the Eraser. I swear that nickname is going to be with him forever. He just got his hair cut. He looks like such a little man! this pic was taken with phone so it's a little blurry, besides, he won't stand still even for a second. I made this little video because he is so funny on his tricycle. He goes so fast! He doesn't have pedals. It's fun to watch. I'll post more pics of the rest of the crew soon. I love my family! What a blessing!

Jagger

Well here he is, the new family dog, Jagger McGuire. Dad calls him Mic. Stoney received Jagger for his 7th birthday. He's been a really good boy so far. He was doing really well sleeping in the boys room but he became a little too familiar with things and ate a hole in the new curtains I had just hung in the boys room. SO, he's outside most of the time now. He gets to come in at night when we are just hanging out before dinner, he's outside while we eat and can come in while the kids are getting ready for bed but he sleeps outside now. That seems to be working out for everybody. The kids take him for a walk everyday and have been really good about cleaning up after him, which was the big deal for Cody, no dog poop left in the back yard. I have more pictures with the kids and Jagger, but I can't get them off my camera. I'll post those soon.
Back to school was great! Stoney is a big first grader, he is loving it. JoLee starts on the 3rd of September. She is really excited about her 4 year old class. More posts to come soon!

Sight word mania

It's sight word mania at the McGuire household. I sent Stoney off to Wyoming with a jacket, cap, jeans and his sight words. I threatened my dad with bodily harm if he didn't work with him while they were away. I just want him to have a great experience in first grade and really be where he needs to be as far as his reading goes.
JoLee is picking things up as we work with Stoney, she's so funny, she is already learning how to sounds things out. She will do so well in her 4 yr old class next year.
Caser's favorite letter it C. I guess because while I'm changing him I will spell out his name that hangs in his room and he really picked up on the C. I don't know, but right now every letter he sees is a C. He is talking so much it's crazy. I love to hear their little voices. Right now he walks around every morning asking everyone "Is bubba coming? Is bubba coming?" He really misses Stoney. It's been good for him and JoLee to have some time together. They are pretty close. We are heading to Crane this weekend, Cody has a football camp in Plains and JoLee, Case and I are going to spend some Geemaw and Papaw time. I am going to see what I can do about getting a nap!! The countdown to 2009 Tomball Cougar Football has begun, Cody's starts meeting in a little over a week. We have our Cougar Wives Luncheon next week. Can't wait!

Settling In

Okay so update... we have A/C. thank goodness. It was turned on Thursday the 2nd. We are finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel as far as getting things put away. Cody wanted his office aka the Tech room done last night so we worked on that. It's funny every room is pending something, either paint, a bookshelf, curtains, something. We are just taking it one room at a time. I want to get the kids rooms done first. I feel like it helps them settle in better.
We have been running like crazy, we spent the 4th in Glen Rose, with Wayne and Steph, their kiddos, Clay, Jeri and Jorja. It was good to see them before the craziness of football gets started.
My big boy Stoney is going to Wyoming with my dad for a week. They are FLYING up there in my uncles plane, my uncle Jimmy is flying and he is very responsible, still I'm nervous. Stoney is beside himself with excitement. They have big plans to trout fish, shoot the 22 (a big deal for Stoney) and ride motorcycles. (More nervous about the motorcycles than the plane.) Stoney and my dad have a special bond, my dad is all things country as far as Stoney is concerned and he loves it. It will be good for the both of them to spend some time together, but I am going to miss him like crazy. They leave out Wednesday, please pray for them a safe trip.
JoLee has two birthday parties lined up while Stoney is away so she is super excited about those. She will also get to do VBS and since she already did Crocodile Doc at the VBS in Crane she informed us that she would help out with the singing because she already knows the songs! She's a riot. Little Miss Priss.

HOLY MOLY

Okay.... so previous post "We bought a house!!" update. The house is great, beautiful, everything I want in a home for my family..... however, it took a week to get the electricity turned on and when it finally was... on Monday 6/29... it was turned off again on Tuesday 6/30. TXU screwed up and scheduled a move out on our new house address so we had power for less than 24 hours. Because it was ridiculously hot, Cody and sweet Kasey and Dear Jonathon carried stuff over and just put it in the garage, anywhere they could fit it. So needless to say.... I can't find a thing, namely my clothes box. I finally got through to TXU today and was promised that the electricity would be back on today... sometime before midnight tonight. Well thank you very much. Cody pulled the last little bit of things from the garage and back yard late last night and put them next to Kasey and Jonathan's driveway (middle of their lawn) the lawn mower, kids backyard toys, some nick-naks here and there.... possibly my box of shoes!!!! (Yesterday was the last day to get out of the rent house.) He took off to Tomball to work strength camp this morning and when he returned to load the items... they were gone, stolen... did I mention the lawn mower, kids backyard toys... POSSIBLY MY BOX OF SHOES!!!! On another note Case pulled a concrete block over onto his foot and thankfully he has a really deep bruise and not a break. After a 10:00 p.m. trip to the ER, where the x-rays were very interesting because he screamed the whole time; not from pain but from being made to do something he didn't want to do, they said he would be okay. A sucker, some stickers and a Curious George book made things better. As for me, it is all I can do not to lose my mind at this point. We are at our wits end... but hey... we bought a house.

We bought a HOUSE!!!!

Here's our new house! We are so excited! We are staying there for the first time tonight. We are going to paint the kids rooms tomorrow... I think, and move our stuff in on Friday and Sat. We went swimming in the neighborhood pool that is just at the end of our street and our first experience there was definitely memorable. Stoney and JoLee did great in the pool, Case however is fearless and just plain crazy and jumps in and waits for someone to save him. He literally runs and jumps, no hesitation, no fear, screaming like a mad man. Cody and I ended up, fully clothed in the pool. I went in after him first, and a little while later Cody ended up in the pool boots and all. The kids thought that was hysterical! God has been so good to us! We can't wait to have everyone over!

My girl is married!

Went to Mandi and Scott's wedding last week and it was really sweet. If anyone has deserved a happy ending it's these two. Their girls Sloan and Maci looked so sweet in their little purple dresses, Scott looked handsome in his new suit and Mandi was a knockout in her sweet wedding dress. Everything went really well, we met up with the happy couple downtown at 8.0's, and my new fun, friend Leslie and I did our best to get on textsfromlastnight.com. Caleb and his posse met us and we headed to some other bar down the street, where Leslie and I did the Franky dance. If you don't know it yet... you will... we are just that hip and in the know. Caleb treated us all to Waffle House, what a guy... what a guy. When we got to the house, we sang Dwight for a few hours before deciding to go to bed. It was 4:30 when I laid my head down after setting my alarm for 6:30. It was ridiculous and fun. Hello, irresponsibility... it's been awhile! All in all it was awesome, I made a new friend and was able wish God's Blessings to an old one. Good times.

Dave Gross Graduates!!

David Gross Graduated!! Cody and I just realized we are getting old!! Cody "adopts" a player every year. There is always that one player that he connects with, they usually remind him of some long past version of himself. Wichita Falls gave us David Gross. He is was intense, full of fire and a GREAT kid. We got his college invitation a few weeks ago and that's when it hit us, one of our "boys" is graduating from COLLEGE!!!! He finished in 4 years, he's graduating from Stonybrook University in NY with a degree in anthropology. We are so happy for him and his family. His mom Sue was the booster club president who went above and beyond the call of duty when she responded to Cody's panicked call for her to watch Stoney while JoLee was born. She showed up with wet hair still getting dressed. UNBELIEVABLE! We love you~

Cowboy day 2009

Pics from Cowboy day. I just came across these pictures and thought I should put them up. Case's boots didn't last long enough for me to get a picture, or his other sock apparently. Could JoLee look any sassier or Stoney more country? Crazy kiddos.

The Opera~ "A Brief Encounter"

I went to the Opera with my wonderful friend Annie a couple of weekends ago. It was so nice to go out on a grown-up night out! Cody was not upset about her only having one extra ticket, the opera... is really not his thing. It was a story, "A Brief Encounter", about a married woman and a married man, having an affair. The first half was REALLY LOOOONNGGG. It just drug out the fact that this woman and this man met and were attracted to each other. There needed to be more conflict or passion, everything was internal. Scene after scene of the woman berating herself emotionally over being attracted to this man. Oh well, the singing was wonderful, the music was pretty and the wine afterwards at Sambuca was delicious. It was fun getting dressed up, heading downtown and spending some time using my mind for things other than diaper changes and making lunches.

No More Softball!!

Finally the season that would never end is OVER! We kept getting rained out so they kept adding games onto our season. It lasted nearly 3 months. It's 4 year olds. Cody was the "coach" because no one else would sign up, but he couldn't be at half the games, thankfully we had a mom that played when she was younger and she stepped in as coach. I was trying to get to Burleson so I wasn't able to see it, but JoLee got her trophy. (She was SO excited!) My friend Annie took these pictures. Cody introduced and said something nice about every girl. JoLee had a great time this season and that is all that matters. BTW... they got first place. Cody was fired up about that!
