Bluebonnet Express

I did a 48 mile bike ride on Sunday, it was so much fun! I wish I had done the 62. Not that I wasn't tired after the ride but I had more to give. The hills were pretty good, not killer but nearly! The weather was awesome, 40 degrees when we started, but it warmed up quickly. Not really much wind. It was just a good day. I need to start swimming if I am going to be ready for the Trigirl Sprint triathlon in August. My personal goal is to do at least do one a year, I would really like to do 2. Maybe the Stephanie Johnson triathlon in Sept.
I am so excited about the MS 150! It's going to be a huge challenge but Tommy and I are going to have a blast. I will admit that at one point on the ride on Sunday I thought this is so crazy, to be out on a bike in the middle of nowhere just for fun! I didn't know anyone so I am really looking forward to having someone there that I can talk to at the rest stops or even while we ride. It gets kind of boring by yourself after a while. I wish Cody had a bike and we could ride together. I know it is something that he would get into, it's easy on the knees and he would love the challenge. I don't think he would go for the spandex shorts though. haha!
3 more weeks and counting! MS 150 April 18th & 19th.

My little Softball player!

JoLee is playing softball this year and she is just so darn cute out there! They are the Red Raiders (of course)! She is number 7 and she thinks that's is the coolest number ever! She is really improving on her throwing and her batting. I think Cody felt bad when she started because it was SO obvious that he hadn't worked with her as much as he had the boys. He's been much better about that lately. Her game was canceled last night do to rain, she wasn't all that upset about it haha! She's made some new friends and is having a lot of fun.

Spring Break

We had a great time. Stoney was adamant that we have a good Spring Break, he had several friends that were going to travel so he was dying to go somewhere too. We started off the week on Monday at the coolest park here in town, Burroughs Park, the kids just love it. There is this little pond in the middle with about a 1/4 mile loop around it. We took the kids bikes and Case's little red car and off we went. Stoney lapped the rest of us, that kid can fly on his bike. I got in a little exercise running and pushing Case's car and JoLee dilly dallied behind us, she was too busy people watching to go very fast. Cody spent this time cleaning out my suburban, hey it's how he chose to spend his afternoon, nobody forced him :)
The kids played on the playground there at the park and wore themselves out. It was a great day.
On Tuesday we went to the biggest event in town!!! Chik Fil A had Dora The Explorer and Diego at their store on Tuesday night and we went... along with every other family within a 10 mile radius. It was complete chaos. I thought Cody and I were going to go crazy but the kids had a ball!
Wednesday we got through our day as quickly as possible and headed to Sea World in San Antonio. We stayed at a tired little hotel about 5 miles from Sea World and it could have been the Ritz as far as the kids were concerned. Their number one request was "Can we jump on the beds?" Our reply, "we don't care as long as you don't wake us up!" We were exhausted and we hadn't even been to Sea World yet.
Thursday: Yea Sea World! I don't know who had more fun the kids or Cody. The first thing was the dolphin pool. For all of you who don't know, the dolphin is Cody's favorite animal. He is a flipper fan. He got to feed the dolphins and pet them, I think he enjoyed that more than anything else. I was busy trying to keep Case from jumping in, I didn't get to pet them. JoLee and Stoney thought that was cool but wanted to move on. We saw the sharks, and a scuba diver, Shamu, the penguins, we found out Stoney is tall enough to ride the big roller coasters but he is willing to wait until JoLee is tall enough too. I think maybe that is a stalling technique, but that's okay. The beluga whales were really neat and the divers there put on a great show. We got to spend some time with Cody's cousins Sonja & David and their little girl Peyton. It was a good, very long day. On the way home to Spring, we made it about 70 miles from the house and stopped and got a room in Sealy. We were so tired.
Friday was spent, hanging out at home, Birthday parties on Sat and church on Sunday. It was a fun week. Stoney said and I quote, "I didn't think we were going to have any fun this week, but we really did!" Spring Break 2009 success!

maybe later

So much to do: so little time.
I have always been a procrastinator. I remember being in elementary school and freaking out when I had to turn in my homework.... KNOWING that I hadn't done it. There I was at the back of the classroom, I can picture it, 4th Grade, Ms. Owen's room. I am digging furiously through my "cubby" looking for homework that I KNOW isn't there. Why in the heck did I do that? So weird. That's the stuff that I remember, not the good times I had in 4th grade. No, no, I remember bad hair, losing my ruby ring in the bathroom, buck teeth and crazy cubby digging. I desperately don't want to pass those habits onto my children. I have to break the cycle. Every time I say "just a minute" or "I'll get it in a second" to one of my kiddos I think I need an electric shock, thump on the ear, code word or something to remind me to get my butt in gear. Stoney gets homework on Mondays and they turn it in on Friday. There is an assignment everyday, last week he finished it on the way to school Friday morning. AAAAAAAgggghhhhh the cycle lives on. I have made it my mission to correct the errors of my youth through my children. Um.. I think I'll start on that tomorrow.

My Flag Football Player

Stoney had his first flag football game, and he's... SHOCKER... on defense. We were running late, I know can you believe that?? Anyway so when we get there, Stoney had just enough time to run out onto the field. They immediately put him in on the inside on defense. They are 5 on 5. The play starts, and the offensive kid with the ball runs right at Stoney and Stoney wraps him up, takes him down and grabs his flag. I thought Cody was going to have a heart attack from pride. Can I also say that you can't tackle in flag football, but because the kid ran into Stoney, they called it contact on both sides. He made a similar play later in the games, except that time he got an angle on the kid, took him down and grabbed his flag. We took the penalty on that one. There was no contact from the other side... that was all McGuire. Afterwards when we were talking about it, Stoney said I just can't help it, I have to tackle them if they get that close. I think those were the sweetest words Cody has ever heard. Cody doesn't care about flag football rules, tackles make him happy. Case all but chewed through the fence to get onto the field with Stoney. Lord help me when they are both out there.
Princess was making friends in the stands. She had her baby doll, the one that is dirty and looks strung out on something, but she loves that baby doll. She found a friend who had candy so she was a happy girl.
She's our softball girl now. Cody's the coach, and I am by default the team mom. It's been SO much work, but she's worth it. They are the red raiders, (all the teams are college teams and Cody got to pick which one we were!) She is doing good, she runs on her tiptoes and LOVES her pink cleats. She's so funny.
I am back in training after my broken arm. I got back on the bike after being off 6 weeks. I have 6 weeks until the MS 150. I have tons of work to do. TONS, I have to get back into shape.
more on that later.

It's been a good 6 months :)

Holy Moly, it's February! So yes Stoney started Kindergarten and OBVIOUSLY things were off and running from there because I haven't written anything since. SOOOOO what has happened let me see. Okay, I turned 30... pick up your jaw, I KNOW it's crazy. Me 30. UGH how did this happen???? I had a GREAT party with some great friends. Cody planned the whole thing, the limo, the Nutcracker ballet, it was wonderful. My sweet Annie took me to see Anjelah Johnson and she is hysterical. Too much fun! I ran the Stephanie Johnson Triathlon, it was awesome. I did pretty good. Stoney did a triathlon. I cried I was so proud of him. He did it all on his own, I couldn't help him at transition or anything. He swam, biked and ran. I was so emotional. I'll have to post some pics of that.
Stoney is doing so well in school. He is reading! It's so awesome. To watch him sound the words out and see the light bulb go off when he figures it out. It's amazing. He is writing in his journals at school, it's so funny the things he comes up with.
JoLee Kay is my sweet girl as always, she doing great in school also. Her vocabulary is through the roof. That girl comes up with the funniest stuff and in different accents. She is a little social butterfly.
And CASER..... well what can I say, my baby is not a baby any more. He will be 2 in May and I just cannot believe it. He is CRAZY, and it's wonderful. I wouldn't trade any of it for anything in the world.
Cody is doing great, he is on the coaching carousel, looking for the next big break. I wonder where we will be in 6 months. Oooooo the thrill of the unknown.
There's 6 months in a nutshell.
